queue_qt::save_as_playlist skipped every local and ephemeral row and,
with no catalog ids left, returned without a word — a queue of Local
Library tracks opened nothing from either the queue panel or the Listen
list, online or offline. The module's own note said the picker's local
mode existed and only the row-to-ref resolver was missing.
local_playlist_qt::local_picker_ref_for_queue_track now builds that ref
from a QueueTrack by source (a file its row id, Plex its rating key,
Jellyfin/Subsonic the server item id, an offline copy its row id from
the hint slot; an ephemeral row nothing), and the queue carries ids and
refs together: only local rows open the picker in local mode, a mix
carries the new Payload::Mixed, which the picker routes as the two halves
would be on their own — both writes onto a local playlist, the sidecar
plus the API (duplicate check included) onto a Qobuz one, a local
playlist on create while offline. The per-row "Add to playlist" entry
shows for local rows on both queue surfaces too.

The artist page's "In library" count was a snapshot of the Library feed
taken when the document was built, over a feed that only loads when the
Library view is opened and that never gains a row for a favourite created
afterwards. On a cold session, or after an account switch, every artist
opened with an invisible toggle; hearting an album on the page moved
nothing until the next session.
- library_qt: `artist_library_items` computes the tab's rows with the
Library > Albums/Tracks rule (favourites ∪ purchases, one row per
entity, purchase row representative, `is_favorite` = also hearted);
local/Plex and `following` rows never enter. A track is a member
through its performer OR its album's main artist (new
`FeedItem::album_artist_id`, fed by the new `AlbumSummary::artist`,
which the wire carries — search-results capture).
- library_qt: `reconcile_qobuz_favorite` inserts the row of a freshly
hearted track/album (one `/track/get` or `/album/get`, mapped by the
same producers the full load uses) and drops the `favorites` rows of a
cleared one, keeping a purchase row with its heart cleared.
- artist_qt: the rows ride inside the artist document (`libraryItems`),
and `refresh_library_items` / `apply_favorite_change` republish them
through `publish_patch` when the feed lands or a heart settles. A
debug-level log prints the membership split for the open artist.
- main: `settle_favorite` is the one settle point (reconcile, fan out,
republish on membership change) for the Library and queue-panel
hearts; `open_artist` warms the feed in the background; `reload_library`
hands the open page its rows; `warm_library` serves the toggle from
cache.
Tests: membership by performer or album artist, exclusion of local /
following, dedup on the purchase row, and the `top_queue` contract that
a foreign id starts the popular list at row 0 (the #737 defect class).
cc
Preserve local playback when it is authoritative, make renderer conflicts explicit and persist the selected policy. Filter unsupported queue rows, restore portable Qobuz identities after disconnect, and fence takeover commands to avoid stale queue and playback loops.
cx
The shared drag gains a LOCAL payload arm: a Local Library / Explorer
row enters via dragStartLocal carrying its ROW ID, resolved to
source-aware refs at drop time — a library row id can never be read as
a catalog id, the same invariant the picker's Payload enum enforces.
TrackRow's localDragSource reuses every existing guardrail (horizontal
arming, select-mode/dead-row/playBlocked gates, preventStealing,
cancel teardown) without touching catalogRow's meaning. Drops route
through the picker's own add matrix: refs onto a local playlist or the
Qobuz sidecar, and Qobuz ids onto a local playlist (previously a
documented POC gap); queue drops land at the exact slot through the
same insert path as Qobuz drags. Native-catalog tracks rows keep the
gesture off until their identity can ride it.
cc
QueueTrack gains two additive, serde-default identity keys (the ISRC and
the MusicBrainz recording id) that the listen log stamps; every
constructor in the workspace sets them (Qobuz-backed ones from
Track.isrc, local ones from the scanned tags, the rest None). They are
JOIN keys, not the row identity: numeric ids collide across sources, so
(source, native item id) stays the identity.
Track.audio_info (replaygain_track_gain / peak on DiscoverAudioInfo) is
modelled from the captured search envelopes; no reader yet and no
popularity field (0 in every sample).
cc
Preflight fallible queue transitions and publish now-playing state only after the requested source is audible, leaving the prior stream intact when a file or server is unavailable.
Carry source-owned request headers through remote probes, streaming and fallback downloads without exposing sensitive values.
cx
Two owner requirements, one shape: something that cannot play must be
skipped, and cleaned when there is nowhere left to skip to. The causes
are outside our control — Qobuz withdraws a track overnight, or a
local/Plex file sits on a share this network cannot see today.
THE FUNNEL, which is where the real gap was. `play_current_if_local`
returned a bool whose two `false`s meant opposite things: "not my row,
run the Qobuz path" and "my row, and it cannot play". The caller could
only act on the first, so an unreachable local file fell through to the
Qobuz tier-walk, failed there with an unrelated error, and
`auto_skip_unavailable` then declined it as non-terminal. One dead file
stopped playback silently. It is now a three-state `LocalPlay`, and a
local failure takes the SAME bounded walk a pulled Qobuz track takes —
to the user they are the same event.
CLEANING. Both dead ends of that walk (budget spent, queue edge) now
call `purge_unavailable_upcoming`, which drops only rows
`queue_track_unavailable` already refuses to play, walking backwards so
a removal cannot shift an index still to be visited. A track on an
unreachable share can never land there: it is Unreachable, not dead.
PROBES THAT CANNOT HANG (`qbz-library/src/reachability.rs`, 4 tests).
The machinery for network shares already existed — mount_info,
`library_folders.is_network`, a populated `local_tracks.is_network_mount`,
even an unreachable-folder guard in scan.rs. Every one of them probed
with a bare blocking syscall, and a mounted-but-unreachable share does
not make `exists()`/`read_dir()` fail, it makes them BLOCK for the
mount's timeout. The guards could not fire; scan.rs hung on the very
condition it existed to detect.
Three states, not two, and that distinction is the whole safety
property: `Missing` is the filesystem saying the file is gone and may
be cleaned; `Unreachable` is it saying nothing, and may only ever be
skipped. Collapsing them — which a bare `exists()` does — would delete
a user's NAS library because they changed networks.
The deadline goes on the PROBE only, never the transfer: a hi-res FLAC
over a working-but-slow share legitimately takes longer than any probe
budget, and timing the read out would turn "your network is slow" into
"this track is gone". A blocked syscall cannot be cancelled, so a
timed-out probe leaks its thread; the mount is therefore remembered
with a cool-down, one probe per dead mount rather than one per track,
which on a 2000-row queue is the difference between a defence and a
thread bomb.
PERSISTENCE. `busy_timeout=1000` on all 18 store pragmas. Deliberately
NOT the 2-3s discussed: these writes run on the Qt thread, so a 3s wait
would install exactly the stall this whole sweep has been removing,
while today's 0 means contention loses a setting silently and instantly.
One second resolves transient contention without a visible stall.
`home_bridge::ui` announces both of its silent failure modes. Three
builds went into proving it was NOT dropping the Home document during
the launch freeze; one warn line would have answered it in one.
Verified against the owner's real session state (1935-row queue): the
app launches to a painted Discover with no QML errors and no dropped
publishes.
cc
Qobuz withdraws tracks: sometimes a recording, sometimes only a quality tier,
sometimes it republishes the same recording under a new album id. The row keeps
appearing and simply cannot play. Until now the user found out by clicking it.
The app already knew and threw the answer away: eight builders hardcoded
`streamable: true`, so the API's own flag never reached a row model. The
reactive half was already here and stays -- a terminal failure still toasts and
skips, bounded at five consecutive, with the 403 back-off kept separate so a
403 storm cannot burn five good tracks.
Detection has two clauses. The API's `streamable: false`, and a session-only
memory of tracks that died terminally under the player this run: /album/get is
honest, but plenty of rows only fail at the stream-url step, and that memory is
what stops the queue re-offering them. Session-only on purpose -- the reference
kept the equivalent set in localStorage, never expired it and never revalidated
it, so a track Qobuz restored stayed dead forever.
Dead rows are dimmed, get an alert glyph and a tooltip, lose click, drag,
favourite and download, and STAY visible and right-clickable: hiding them would
defeat the point and remove the only route to a replacement. Qobuz's own player
does exactly this, and the pulled track carries displayable:false while still
being rendered -- that flag is not a hide instruction.
A downloaded copy is exempt everywhere. The offline tier resolves before any
availability question, so a pulled track already on disk plays fine; dropping it
from the queue would take away something the user downloaded, and it would bite
hardest offline. Those rows say they are playing the local copy and keep their
play affordance.
Two seams filter, not one, and both had to learn the surviving anchor: every
caller read `first_id` from the UNFILTERED list, so the seam dropped that row
and the app then asked the player for the id it had just discarded -- silence,
no toast. That was already reachable today through the artist blacklist. The
seams now return the surviving start and its id.
Two id bugs surfaced on the way and are fixed here. A playlist row's
`playlist_track_id` was filled with the CATALOG id; they are different numbers
for the same row, one naming the recording and the other its slot in that
playlist, and Qobuz's delete and reposition verbs both take the membership id --
so "remove from playlist" was addressing a row that does not exist. And the For
You rows were built with `..default()`, claiming availability while the queue
built from the same track read the truth.
Catalogs: the two strings this needed already existed in all seven translated
locales and are reused; the skipped-tracks toast is a plural pair, and the
replacement feature's strings ride along here since they share the files.
cc
Dragging rows onto the queue panel now lands them AT the pointed slot
(insertion line included) instead of appending: add_track + move_track
compose the position locally (QueueManager has no insert-at-index and
the manual-block adds would corrupt manual_next_count), and the
QConnect controller path routes through CtrlSrvrQueueInsertTracks'
insert_after so the position survives to the peer. Multi-row drops keep
their own order. Dropping onto an EMPTY queue raises a one-shot
'start playing?' prompt rather than hijacking a running queue or
leaving the user one click short.

Block B1 of the miniplayer/tray contract. No UI: this lands the state the
five surfaces will bind to, so B2 can mount a window against a bridge that
is already correct.
src/mini_bridge.rs (new) — the QbzMini singleton. Six properties (open,
surface, backgroundBlur, miniQueueJson, miniWidth, miniHeight), boot(), and
the two custom-WRITE funnels. `open` mirrors into a static AtomicBool with
is_open() beside it, because the hotkeys pipeline runs on another singleton
and cannot read this QObject's properties.
src/mini_qt.rs (new) — the plain projection module: mini_queue_doc (current
track first, then the FULL unfiltered upcoming, no page cap, no art field),
the row-to-upcoming-index mapping, the geometry guards, and the pref seeds.
Five unit tests, three of them the contract's UT-1/UT-2/UT-3.
src/queue_qt.rs — display_title and fmt_duration widened to pub(crate) so
mini_qt reuses them instead of growing a third private copy; new
publish_mini_queue with its own identical-document guard, published from THE
queue funnel beside publish_coverflow. No second queue fetch.
src/settings_qt.rs — pref_f32, the reader with a default that the two
geometry keys need. Also reattaches three doc lines that sat on
read_pref_f32 while describing save_pref, which had none.
src/main.rs, build.rs, qml/Main.qml — the registrations: two mod lines
(mini_qt is a plain module and is deliberately absent from rust_files), the
bridge in rust_files, and QbzMini.boot() after QbzSession.boot().
Two deviations worth naming. Contract row A-9 asks for an invokable
set_surface, but row A-3 fixes a property named surface whose generated
setter is also set_surface — one QObject cannot carry both, so the funnel
sits on the property. QML assigns `QbzMini.surface = n`; there is no
setSurface member. And the surface write persists and re-kicks the queue
refresh unconditionally, 1:1 with the reference, suppressing only the
change notification when nothing moved.

Full-parity port of the Slint QConnect integration per the contract at
qbz-nix-docs/qt-frontend/2026-08-01-qconnect-port/00-CONTRACT.md (three
adversarial review rounds on the spec, §12 trap sign-off PASS on both
halves, RFB-verified incl. a real cloud connect, live session
owner-tested). The shared crates are consumed verbatim — zero backend
changes.
- adapter quartet: qconnect_transport_qt (credentials, identity on the
shared qconnect_settings.db), qconnect_engine_qt (start_track_stream
fallback chain + feeder helpers + CMAF cursor sync),
qconnect_event_sink_qt, qconnect_qt (the facade: connect/disconnect
recipe, controller routing, echo guards, offline parking B12, startup
auto-connect)
- QbzQConnect bridge singleton + on_session_entered wiring; one shared
flyout for both bars (tooltip on the large bar only), Developer >
Connect diagnostics modal, device-row glyphs, settings rows live
- poll loop: peer-reflection branch before cast, ~2 s renderer reports,
sync-on-add on every Qobuz-castable add path
- routing: cast → QConnect → local (mute QConnect-first), play arms
after the set_queue funnel, reorder cloud arm with no local fallback,
volume/mute/seek remote-first
- touchpoints: lyrics remote anchor, scrobble guarded / Discord
unguarded, cast suspend/resume, volume-lock lifted when remote

Ports the whole playlist-organisation domain, which had no counterpart in
this frontend, plus the Library work the owner asked not to defer.
Playlist Manager. New controller (playlist_manager_qt, _rows, _ops) over the
already-ported folders_qt repository, which until now had zero consumers.
Grid, list and folder-tree modes; sort, filter and search; folder cards and
chips; drag reorder and up/down arrows. Reached from the sidebar's "..."
menu, whose New folder / Manage playlists / Import rows had been rendering
dimmed and inert behind a comment saying the seam did not exist.
Folders. QbzFolderEdit plus the create/edit modals and PmFolderIcon: preset
or custom-image icons, colour, hidden flag, delete. Deleting a folder nulls
its LOCAL members' folder_id explicitly, because the app keeps the
foreign_keys pragma off, so the schema's ON DELETE SET NULL never fires for
them.
QbzPlaylistEdit. One shared rename/description/delete editor replacing the
inline popup in PlaylistView. Three corrections the old path had wrong: the
description is carried through a rename instead of being written as NULL,
a FOLLOWED playlist routes to unsubscribe (playlist/delete returns 200 and
silently no-ops on a playlist you do not own), and the post-delete back
navigation is conditional on actually being on that playlist's page, so
deleting from the manager no longer navigates you off it.
Importer. Spotify / Apple Music / Tidal / Deezer, over the shared
qbz-playlist-import crate.
Picker local mode. The reference's four-case matrix — target local or Qobuz,
payload local refs or Qobuz ids. Local playlists list unconditionally and
Qobuz ones only when online. Local refs onto a Qobuz playlist write the
library.db sidecar at next_playlist_sidecar_position(pid, qobuz_count); the
0-based enumerate the reference used before collided slots and lost rows.
The carried payload can no longer be parsed as a catalog id when it is a
library row id. Unblocks the local bulk add-to-playlist.
Library. A-Z jump strip, Albums list mode, Artists side panel, per-tab
persistence and multi-select. Preferences land in the same
<data-dir>/qbz/favorites_ui.json the shipping build writes, so switching
between the two frontends keeps them. LibraryView is split into
views/library/ on the way past 1800 lines.
Local library. Group-by now persists; playback queues the order on screen
rather than the SQL page order; switching album-identity mode invalidates
the Artists tab; artist matching folds diacritics and compares normalized
credit parts, so "Air" stops listing "Airbourne" and "Beyonce" stops being
two artists.
Offline. activate_offline never persisted a last-user marker, so every
per-user path resolved to None and all local reads came back empty; a
session that started offline saw no local playlists at all. The sidebar's
load-once latch was function-local and therefore unreachable from the logout
reset, so a second login never rebuilt the tree. Both are session-scoped
now, and the sidebar Refresh row runs the local-safe verb instead of being
dimmed with no way to recover.
Also fixes, found while verifying rather than reported: artwork derivatives
were written straight to their final path, so a QML Image resolving one
mid-encode opened a truncated png and Qt cached that failure against the URL
for the rest of the session; Library's track group separators referenced a
Component declared in another delegate's scope and could never render; the
genre filter was drawn on Tracks and Albums but applied only on All; an
All-feed row called a player method that does not exist; and the sidebar's
drop-hot highlight used Slint's #RRGGBBAA literals in Qt's #AARRGGBB slot.
17 new msgids across all 8 locales.
cc
The reported symptom was a 404 un-favoriting an artist. The cause was one
word: the shared client builds its query key as `format!("{}_ids", ty)`,
so it wants the SINGULAR noun, and every Qt call site passed the plural.
`artists_ids=` is not a parameter Qobuz knows, so /favorite/delete
answered 404 -- and /favorite/create had been failing just as silently in
the other direction. The trap is that the SAME identifier takes the
plural for /favorite/getUserFavorites, which is why the migration read
right and was wrong; label reads were the mirror image, sending the
singular where that endpoint wants plural and 400ing on every page open,
so a label could never be unfollowed.
Playlists were worse than wrong -- they went to /favorite/create at all.
That endpoint has no playlist_ids; Slint routes them to library.db and
says so in a comment. Rerouted.
Fixing the write then exposed the display: the toggle read a favourites
cache that only filled after the Library view had been opened once, so on
a fresh launch a favourited album drew an EMPTY heart and the click
REMOVED it. A backend fixed without its display is worse than neither,
because the two now disagree. So every producer stamps its real state at
document-build time from the same authority the write uses, and there is
one settle point every heart reconciles through.
Pinning gets the same treatment plus the fan-out it was missing, and both
now patch badges by signal instead of republishing a document -- a
republish hands `model:` a new array, which resets scroll and tears down
the delegate model.
cc
**Icons follow the theme.** The bakes are frozen dark-palette hexes, so on light
themes secondary, muted and accent were simply wrong, and accent was wrong on
any theme whose accent is not #4285f4. Slint recolours at render time, which
this path cannot do — so the tint is generated once per colour into the cache
and loaded through the same Image+svg path the bakes already use. No effect, no
shader, so it cannot hit the "renders nothing on software" failure.
The sweep found the part the diagnosis had missed: "primary" was two meanings
welded together — max-contrast-on-theme-surface, and literal white for glyphs on
hosts that are dark under every theme. Remapping it globally would have painted
dark glyphs on dark scrims in fourteen places. The vocabulary is split instead,
with "primary" left as an alias so nothing changes until it is migrated
deliberately.
**The album header gradient was Slint's fallback, not its design.** Slint paints
a blurred artwork field and only falls back to the flat two-band gradient when
that image is unavailable; the port shipped the fallback. The field needs no
shader — it is a 128x128 image, so the pipeline ports verbatim: the cover down
to 8x8, back up to 128, blur, colour adjust, vignette. The 8x8 step is the look,
not an optimization; everything after it works from eight pixels of colour,
which is why it reads as atmosphere rather than as a blurred cover. It comes out
of the same decode that already produced the flat tint.
**Covers were point-sampled.** Canvas drawImage does not filter when it scales,
measured at RMSE 0.000 against a nearest-neighbour reference — a 600px cover in
a 200px cell throws away eight of every nine pixels, and the error is aliasing,
not softness. Rust now produces a derivative at the drawn device size so the
draw is 1:1 and there is no resample at all.
**The now-playing context stack.** It had no Qt counterpart: the model carried
context_kind and context_id, some builders stamped them, and nothing ever read
them back. The album path only appeared to work by coincidence, because the
glyph was hardcoded to open the album.
Plus: Discover's missing rails with real play history, Recommendations on the
integrations, queue drag reorder, and the playlist detail collage.
cc
**Deferred external rows.** The album page awaited the Last.fm row before
publishing anything, so the tracklist waited on an external service plus
MusicBrainz. It publishes in stages now — header and tracks first, then each
Qobuz rail as it lands, then Last.fm — with every patch merged under a
generation counter so a late reply for album A cannot paint onto album B. The
artist page was already staged this way; its views were the part still showing
bare "Loading…" text.
**Skeletons as the standard.** One control, new variants rather than new
components, mounted across the views. Its second job is the one the owner
named: cleanup. A cover that never resolves settles the placeholder once and
reveals the card's own empty state instead of shimmering forever — local albums
with no embedded art produce no artwork entry at all, so a placeholder gated
only on "not arrived yet" would never stop.
**Local artwork streams.** Fifteen seconds to first cover on a 1274-album grid
was one batch emitted after the whole window resolved. Each cover emits as it
resolves now, visible band before prefetch margin.
**Lyrics migrated.** Smooth sync instead of a 1 Hz tick, word-level karaoke
where the document carries it, the surrounding-line dimming, the controls
flyout and the translation layer the v10 backend already supported. Exactly one
row subscribes to the 30 Hz output; the timer drops to 250ms when paused or
hidden.
**Navigation by mouse and touchpad.** Side buttons and a two-finger horizontal
swipe, matching #653 — including the part that matters, which is that a swipe
over a carousel scrolls the carousel. The layer is declared first in the shell
so everything else gets first refusal.
**Context menus.** Brought to the Slint inventory, Play later included, with
right-click opening the same menu as the button everywhere. Entries whose seam
does not exist are hidden rather than shipped inert.
Two controls that rendered and no-opped are now honestly disabled: the My QBZ
nav row, which routes to a view the shell has no case for, and three sidebar
menu entries with no backing call.
The sidebar caret was never a condition bug. The row is a positioner and the
name cell's width ignored the count label, so a folder WITH content pushed the
chevron past the clip — which is why it vanished exactly when it mattered.
cc
Two fronts of the modularization, both gated green before this commit.
QML leaves the flat qml/ directory for seven modules: cards, controls,
rows, settings, shell, theme, views. Only Main.qml and LoginScreen.qml
stay at the root. build.rs matches the tree exactly (55 files), relative
imports and asset paths were re-anchored for the new depth.
The QbzBridge God-object starts breaking up: QbzSession, QbzShell,
QbzPlayer, QbzQueue and QbzHome are now their own #[cxx_qt::bridge]
singletons, each with its own OnceLock<CxxQtThread> and ui() hop, booted
in order from Main.qml. Bridge files stay directly under src/ because
cxx-qt-build only accepts rust_files from one directory (QTBUG-93443).
bridge.rs keeps 5.5 domains (library, album/artist, settings,
integrations, search, playlist) and dies once they are split out.
